Los Angeles is sprawling; seeing the best the city has to offer in just three days is easiest with taxi service in Los Angeles. Public transportation in L.A. is an option but there are waits, approximately 15 to 20 minutes for each bus, adding an hour or more to a sightseeing trip. Renting a car to see the sights is also an option but Los Angeles traffic congestion is notorious, making the drive in an unfamiliar city stressful.
The Hollywood section of L.A. offers the quintessential Los Angeles experience; two days spent in Hollywood offers a person the chance to see the majority of the tourist attractions unique to the city, including the iconic Hollywood sign. Taxi service in Los Angeles is even more affordable when tourists stick to one section of the huge area that encompasses the City of Los Angeles.
L.A. is famous for its shopping and celebrities. A trip to Melrose Avenue in the East Hollywood section of the ciy provides a one-of-a-kind shopping experience with a good chance of spotting a celebrity or two. Tourists can also have a taxi take them for a drive on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills to see the television and movie star’s homes and to appreciate the fabulous view of the city from the hills.
No trip to L.A. would be complete without a stop at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The cement handprints and footprints of Hollywood’s famous stars are a tourist favorite and they provide excellent photo opportunities. The Hollywood Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum are also interesting attractions that offer a chance to cool off inside the air-conditioned buildings.
Located next to Hollywood, the Wilshire section of L.A., in particular Wilshire Boulevard, has enticing museums worth a visit. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Petersen Automotive Museum have enough exhibits to satisfy the most discerning art lover or exotic car enthusiast. For a refreshing change of pace, the La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum display an array of fossils from the Ice Age. For meals, Wilshire’s Koreatown has an amazing array of restaurants catering to all tastes and markets to purchase many exotic foods.
Two days in Hollywood and one day in Wilshre provide the ideal overview of Los Angeles, leaving a person enough time to enjoy seeing the city at a leisurely pace. Los Angeles is home to many hidden gems, which is why taking a taxi is the best way for tourists to travel. Making impromptu stops at shops, outdoor markets or restaurants is easy in a taxi, but nearly impossible using public transportation.
